Free Intellectual Property Brief Advice Legal Clinic for Small Businesses

The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center, in conjunction with Sterne Kessler Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C., is sponsoring a free Intellectual Property Legal Clinic for incorporated for-profit small businesses to assist with their intellectual property needs, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and intellectual property licensing. This is an in-person event at the offices of Sterne Kessler Goldstein & Fox in Washington, DC

Examples of matters to be reviewed include:

• Have the business name and logo been registered or otherwise protected, or are they infringing on the trademarks of others?
• Is copyright protection available for the business’ creative works?
• Does the business have any patents that they’re trying to enforce or need assistance determining if an invention is patentable?
• Does the business have any intellectual property licensing agreements?

Attorney volunteers will speak with the small business owners and conduct a brief advice assessment of the business’ needs with respect to intellectual property ONLY.
